He wakes up in a field in the middle of nowhere.
That's all he knows.
He doesn't know his name, where he is, or where he's been, but he knows that he's here, in this field, and the field is made of corn. That's all he really needs to know. Well, no, that isn't entirely true. His name would be very helpful. But for right now, he knows that there's a field. There's corn. And he's got this nagging feeling that he's not where he's supposed to be.
He pushes himself to his feet slowly, trying to find some kind of sign to tell him where he is or what he's supposed to be doing there. He catches the flash of headlights, and something in his brain tells him that there's a road there. He dusts himself off and starts stumbling forward, looking for that car, to see if he can get some kind of help.
Every instinct he has screams that this is wrong, but he doesn't know why. He just wants some answers. Maybe that will trigger something. He stumbles out into the street, waves a hand, and tries to get the oncoming car to stop.
Maybe they'll be able to tell him something he doesn't know.
In fact, he's pretty sure they will.

She pulls into the parking lot, wasting no time unbuckling herself. "Alright, fall in, double time."
She is not joking, Sam, she will leave your ass, even if your ass is the reason she's here.

"Hi, remember me? I found another one."
The orderly glanced back at Sam. "At least you dressed him this time."
"Oh, no, he was like this when I found him. Even came with a nametag. He's Sam."

When the orderly gets them to the room, he hops up on the table to wait for the doctor. None of this was feeling familiar at all, and while that, in and of itself was a little scary, there's an odd feeling that he's dealt with worse.
"You know, you don't have to stick around." He would really, really like it if she did, but he knew that she didn't have any obligation to him. "I think I can figure it out from here."

He drummed his fingers against the side of the counter for a moment, before speaking up again.
"What if no one claims me?"
no subject
"Then I guess we'll be stuck with each other."

"Why would you do that for me? You don't even know me."

Where was that doctor?

"I ... woke up in the middle of a cornfield and can't remember a thing?"

Don't mind her snark, it helps her deal.

"Amnesia is usually fairly common after head trauma -- are you experiencing any pain?"
"Nope. I feel pretty normal otherwise."

The doctor seemed hesitant to actually respond.
